OMTrak has been engaged on the East Kimberley Development Project for the Health Infrastructure Projects.

The East Kimberley Health Infrastructure Investment Package will deliver a total investment of $50 million on improving health services in the East Kimberley region.

Kununarra Integrated Primary Health Care facility (IPHC)

The IPHC facility will provide a range of multidisciplinary and multi sector primary health care services to the catchment population of the East Kimberley.

The services within the facility will include:
– Allied Health
– Visiting Medical Specialists
– Population Health
– Kimberley Division of General Practices
– Kimberley Aged and Community Services
– General Practice

The IPHC facility will offer a welcoming environment for Aboriginal and non Aboriginal people alike, and become an important health hub for the Kununurra community and surrounding areas.

Providing the community with a one stop shop type facility, it will also foster improved working relationships between health professionals within and across sectors, resulting in a more seamless experience of care for the patient.

The new facility will be located on the Kununurra Hospital Campus between the hospital and the Mental Health building. Public entrance to the facility is from Coolibah Drive. A staff and services road will be constructed along the boundary fence from Ivanhoe Road towards the rear of the hospital.

Completion of the facility is scheduled for mid-2012.

Kununurra Short Stay Patient Accommodation

The Short Stay facility will provide much needed accommodation for patients travelling to Kununurra for medical reasons, such as oncology, cardiology, obstetrics, gynaecology and paediatrics. The facility will have eight bedrooms each with an ensuite, that will accommodate up to 16 people, along with shared communal dining and living space and an onsite caretaker.

The accommodation will be available to patients accessing health services in Kununurra, but who do not need to stay in the hospital. Currently these patients reside as boarders within the hospital.

The facility will be located on the new Coolibah subdivision, behind the hospital site, providing easy pedestrian access to the hospital.

Completion is scheduled for mid-2012.
